HURDY GURDY BY DALLET

Hurdy gurdy by DALLET in Chatillon sur Indre (France) end of the XIX° century.
The lute body of nine alternately red and yellow varnished maple ribs.
The wide grain pin table inlaid around the edge with bone and black and brown stained wood segments, two soudholes in S-shape.
The keybox of maple with thirteen ebony natural keys and ten bone accidental keys.
Five maple bridges. Boxwood wheel.
The keybox and wheel covers and the tailpiece in maple stained in black with boxwood purfling.
Painting decoration of birds, flowers, foliage and figures on back, table, keybox, tailpiece, keybox and wheel covers.
Ten strings - two chanterelles - four drones: two bourdons, one trompette, one mouche - four sympathetic strings on table.
Maple pegbox with six ebony pegs terminating in a blackhaired female carved head.
S-shaped iron handle, wood knob.
Interesting system of change of pitch on the left of the table set up by three pieces of black stained wood, maple and bone.
