VIOLIN BY NICOLAS MORLOT IN MIRECOURT

Violin by Nicolas MORLOT made in Mirecourt (France) c. 1830.
Back ornemented with painting of 'le spectre de la montagne' : subjects of lovers with a ghost on background in mountain,  signed by DUMONT.
Back, ribs and head of maple, two piece table of spruce.
Varnish of an orange-yellow colour.
Nice ebony button and pegs decorated with mother of pearl and ivory.

Length of the back : 367 mm


Nicolas MORLOT was born in Mirecourt in 1780 and died in this city in 1856, was pupils of Didier NICOLAS Aîné.
He established in his hometown  where he was active from 1800 to 1840.
