Dan Ty' Bà, Vietnam, early 20th century.
Pear shaped short neck luth.
Back, neck and head in one single piece of wood.
Peghead decorated with a carved bat.
12 frets on the table.
It was played with a large plectrum, today the frets numbers is higher and musicians use fingerpicks.
Ty' Bà is the vietnamese version of the chinese Pi Pà, Dan being the prefix meaning stringed instrument.
