Txistu, unnamed, Basque Country (France) circa 1900. Duct flute with three fingerholes, conical body of one piece of wood stained in black. Six mounts, one prehension ring, whistle tongue and mouthpiece in nickel-silver. Popular instrument from the Basque Country (south-west of France), musicians play it with the left hand, the right hand is used for playing the 'ttun ttun' (stringed tambour) or the 'atabal' (vellum tambour).
