Neapolitan mandolin by Paul MANGENOT and L. PRONIER made in Mirecourt (France) c. 1900.
Table of spruce edged with maple and ebony stringing and mother of pearl 'pistagnes'.
Soundhole edged with maple and ebony stringing and mother of pearl decoraton in black mastic.
Scratchplate in tortoishell with mother of pearl floral inlay.
Ivory bridge.
Ebony fingerboard with 17 brass frets and mother of pearl dots.
Neck and head of flamed maple, brass machine head signed FON & FILS, buttons of black bakelite.
Back of 21 maple and rosewood fluted ribs divided by ebony and maple stringing.

Paul MANGENOT was born in Mirecourt (Vosges - France) in 1862.
He was pupil of Paul BAILLY and after he worked for Joseph HEL in Lille, COLLIN MEZIN in Paris, in workshops in Lyon and Genéve.
In 1890 he established in Mirecourt and was the successor of Justin DERAZEY, at 24 faubourg Saint Vincent at the sign 'à la ville de Crémone'.
In 1899 he was in partnership with L. PRONIER.
He sold his tradename and those bough by DERAZEY to LABERTE in 1928
He dead in Mirecourt in 1941.
